If Asian carp ever get in the Great Lakes, a new study says watch out.
They could spread farther than anyone thought.
The U of M study says it’s because they’d have enough food to keep going.
Scientists say the voracious carp could feed on mussel excrement and other organic material not previously thought of as food.
So far, efforts to keep them from getting into Lake Michigan via Chicago area waterways has worked.
But if they get in, it would threaten the ecosystem and the $7 billion fishing industry.
